The adventures of homemade organic babyfood- First foods, Carrots

As Rylee is ready to move on to Veggies I’ve decided to make a log of all the babyfood I’m making her. It is important to start off with single veggies (start with oranges and work your way to greens) then fruits, then meats. Its also a good idea to stick with one veggie, fruit, or meat at a time waiting four days before introducing the next food (this way you’ll know if there is an allergic reaction) once all the way through the veggies you can mix veggies making new and exciting flavors!!(same with fruits). I knew for a very long time that when I did have children I wanted to make my own baby food, not only does this allow me to use all organic and know EXACTLY what is going into my baby’s belly but its also more cost saving. 1 organic sweet potato will make 12 jars a baby food! You can get two organic sweet potato’s for around $2.000- you do the math! Now you don’t have to use organic fruits and veggies, thats just my personal preference.

Now when it comes to making baby food there are many baby food making machines out there. Myself, I have the baby bullet and the baby bullet turbo steamer. However you don’t need a special baby food machine. You can simply a blender or food processor.

Tonight miss Rylee Paige tried Carrots for the very first time!!! She seemed to have a love, hate relationship with them…

Here are the very simple steps I went through to make her food.

Step one:
Get everything ready

Get everything ready!

Step two:
I took 10 Organic baby carrots and pre-washed them

Step three:
Add 1/2 cup of water to turbo steamer and steam for 10 minutes on level 2

Steam!

Step three:
add to blender and blend until desired texture I added breast milk to make it more watery and give it a familiar taste since its her first time with carrots (you can add water, or formula as well)

Blend!

Step four:
Place extras in freezer safe containers (ice cubes trays work great! and each cube is 1 oz) until ready to be used if using an ice cube tray remove from tray once frozen an place them in freezer safe bags to prevent frost bite.

Step five:
Warm (never microwave as heat bubbles can develop) if you have the baby bullet turbo steamer it has a tray to defrost and warm food)

Step six:
Feed!
